QUIET As IT's Kept - 10/25/03 Rama's Europe Report, Photo's of Friends & Scenes

***Today is my birth date. Whoo hoooo!!!, I AM back in the USA - San Diego. Suffice to say that My European Tour and experiences there takes second place, in my entire time in this incarnation, only to my experiences as a biological father to exceptional children and parental companion to One of those children. The musical part of the tour was exquisitely delightful and enjoyable, and immeasurably important to me as far as an unbiased reality check on my status as a musician at this point in time, which totally cleared my mind of any doubt and sharpened my focus on the methodical dynamic pursuit of the 'performing musician' part of my future time here on this Earth this time.

-My time in Europe was TOTALLY AWESOME. Although I went there, alone, had never been there, in this life, and did not speak the languages, and at a time when most Americans were afraid to travel out of the USA because of terrorist warnings fear and/or boycotting countries that did not support America's war in Iraq. All of the people that I met and encountered were helpful to warm and friendly. The main bizarre aspect of my time there was that I felt more like I was at home, welcome, appreciated, respected and comfortable there than I have for most of my life in America, being of African and Native of this continent, Cherokee, ancestry. I do remember that Ronald Reagan announced, during his time in the White House, that there is no more racism in America.

- I AM now working on strengthening my 'chops,' and otherwise preparing and projecting to have a CD Release Party for my "LET'S HEAL IT" CD in the Spring of 2004, which will be the beginning of live performances and tours with my band 'Listen To The Sun.' There will be some major surprises.

- Unfortunately, I did not get any photos while in London, England June 18 - 19 during my tour of the city which included Buckingham Palace with the Changing of the Guards, people I met there etc.

And, uhm, I want to know 'Who (and/or what) is really in charge here?' - in the USA, and on this Earth. Dubyaman's* saying that he is in charge - although I think he may 'believe' that he is - reminds me of people who confess to crimes because they want to be thought of as more important than they are.

Introduction:
Rama Demetrius Dyushambee, aka: The Cosmic Detective, is the Founder of YOUtopia INstitute, on the Internet at "YOUtopiaINstitute.org". INNER-tainment for YOU! YOUtopia is an original word, not in any dictionary, yet. Defined by Rama as "v. Pursuit - Attainment - Sustaining and Maintenance of the IMP:-)/Individual Maximum Potential for the harmonization and balance of the three levels (literal, symbolic & mystical) of human existence, from the perspective of; Myself as a part of the Whole." His music and lyrics are intended to motivate and inspire others to pursue, and so on, individual YOUtopia. "It has been revealed to me that I AM a figment of my imagination:-), so to speak. Why or how did you choose your bandname?
The sun, just like a dog whistle, is producing sounds that humans can not, generally, hear. We, as humans, have inherent potential to raise our consciousness, awareness and perception by using the available techniques, consistent from ancient times, to activate more of the unused 85% of our bio computer/brain to improve and enhance our individual existences, including improved hearing. For those of us who choose to pursue our maximum potential, on all levels, while trying to improve our hearing capacity to be able to hear a dog whistle and the sound that the sun is producing, we will learn to hear many other sounds happening all around us that we hadn't previously been aware of. We have the opportunity to try to "LISTEN To The SUN."

Do you play live? Where? Do you like it? Any special moments?
I AM reviving my music career after some years of inactivity, live performance wise. My first gig will be in Düsseldorf, Germany on June 28, 2003. After I return from Europe, on July 4th, one of my main priorities will be to find the right manager and booking agent for gigs and US and international touring. When the circumstances and conditions are favorable, I love playing live. [For my main "special moments" see "Band History:" below.]

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Most importantly, the Internet is making it possible for independent musicians to successfully promote and distribute our music without being dependent on the corporate music industry hierachy.

Would you still sign a record contract with a major label?
Fortunately, there is, at least, one:-) major label, Clive Davis,' that I think, from what I've read and heard, I could trust. I imagine that there is another one or more that I don't know about yet.

Band History:
High school “do-wop” group with Jimmy Hayes (original and current singer with THE PERSUASIONS) - the highlight of which was a booking on a show with the original IKE and TINA TURNER band touring the “Chitlin’ circuit” in their bus. And, on to music school after the Navy, followed by three years as a private high school music teacher, director of a local Boston, Massachusetts production of the Rock Opera, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Played the college and club circuit from New York to Maine for 3 years with the Bill Colwell Band, during which time the band backed up JOHN LEE HOOKER on his Boston area gigs in the early ‘70s, played at one of two adjoining clubs and shared a dressing room area with MILES DAVIS for one week:-); met, shook hands with and hung out with Rashaan Roland Kirk, in the dressing room of the club in San Francisco where he recorded VOLUNTEER SLAVERY, one week before I played a one night gig in that club; during my first year in Boston and mus ic school there, a woman friend brought Duke Ellington and Harry Carney over to our table where they sat and chatted during their break, wished me luck with my music and gave me there autographs, which I, of course, still have.

Who or what are your musical influences?
Here are some clues:-) to my "musical influences:" My musical roots trace from the ’40s and ‘50s Southern Black Baptist Gospel in the local church and radio, “The Grand Ole Opry” Country music on grandparents’ home radio in segregated Hopewell, Virginia, to high school choir and band, and on to three years of study at the European music oriented Modern School of Music in Washigton, DC, corespondence arranging course from Berkley School of Music in Boston, MA and one year of improvisational studies at the JDS School of Music, with all Berkeley teachers, in Boston. Huh?

Your favorite spot or city on earth?
I haven't decided, yet.
